Pipeline shore approaches
In designing and constructing the landfall area, where oil and gas pipelines approach the shore, a vast array of specialised equipment and activities are necessary. Especially as it relates to the nearshore area, Biddy Osa oil & Gas Limited has developed a one-stop-shop concept, whereby we combine all the services we deliver into one complete package. We benefit from a large variety of fit-for-purpose equipment that includes linear winches, multi-purpose construction vessels, dredging equipment and a shallow water pipe lay barge. This allows us to provide specialist services such as trenching and backfilling, pulling and laying of shallow water pipelines, site preparation, site re-instatement and landfall construction. As an experienced contractor in the nearshore area, we have executed many challenging, complex projects in Nigeria.
Shallow water pipeline installation
Through its ingenuity and versatility, Biddy Osa’s shallow water pipe lay barge adds value to the wide array of one-stop-shop EPC services that we offer for oil and gas projects in shallow water. Stingray is capable in handling offshore pipelines up to 60 inches in water depths up to 100 meters. Our working methods are suitable for the pulling and installation of pipelines from the shore (bottom pull), pulling works to the shore and offshore installation (pipe lay) and the installation of pipelines from an offshore vessel (float and sink). The barge is also suitable for buoy and manifold installation, hook-up, commissioning, piling and midline tie-ins.
Dredging, trenching and backfilling
Our roots as a dredging company give us a leading edge when it comes to the application of dredging techniques in the oil and gas industry. For offshore pipelines, platforms or subsea installations, we are specialised in seabed intervention, benefiting from a large fleet of trailing suction hopper dredgers that can reach water depths of more than 100 metres. These vessels are also suitable to be equipped with specialist tools such as Mass Flow Excavation devices or ripper heads, designed for creating trenches in hard soils. Besides our hoppers, we have a wide range of cutter suction dredgers, backhoe dredgers and auxiliary equipment, which enables us to provide the most effective combination of excavation and backfilling methods.
